Anthony Desiato—owner and founder of Flat Squirrel Productions—is a lifelong Superman fan, documentary filmmaker, and podcast host who has been chronicling the culture of comic shops and mining his fandom for the past decade.

While attending law school, Anthony fulfilled a long-held ambition by turning the camera on Alternate Realities, the New York comic book store where he worked for more than a decade.

The result, My Comic Shop DocumentARy, screened at film festivals across the country and garnered press in multiple media outlets, including The New York Times. Anthony followed up his debut with the award-winning short By Spoon! The Jay Meisel Story and the intimate Wacky Man: The Rise of a Puppeteer. All three films are available to watch for free on YouTube.

With My Comic Shop Country (streaming now on Amazon, Apple TV, and Tubi), Anthony widened his focus to comics retail across America, shining a light on an oft-overlooked side of the industry and revealing the power of comic book stores to bring people together.

Also a prolific podcaster, Anthony hosts the shows that comprise The Flat Squirrel Podcast Network, available on all major platforms. Podcasts include My Comic Shop History, Digging for Kryptonite, Another Exciting Episode in the Adventures of Superman, Beyond Metropolis (Patreon), and Summoning the Zords.
